Likely inspired by the Olivetti Valentine, which was launched a few years earlier, as well as the broader design trends of the era, the Contessa stands out on its own and doesn't feel like a mere imitation. Triumph, a German brand, was the first to mass-produce typewriters in the country, starting in 1898. The company originally began in 1886, manufacturing bicycles and automobiles. After acquiring several American patents on early typewriter mechanisms, Triumph successfully ventured into typewriter production.
