Vintage Typewriter Store

& Restoration Workshop

The same Olivetti Lettera 22 became part of the world of Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. One of these typewriters, used during the film production, was later signed by Wes Anderson and sent to our workshop. Another Lettera 22 from the same project remains in his personal workspace in Paris.

THIS IS OUR FAMILY WORKSHOP.

For more than a decade, my husband Jacek and I have been bringing vintage typewriters back to life in our family workshop in Spain, finding new homes for them among writers, poets, artists, travellers and collectors around the world.

We've had the privilege of working with some of the biggest names, including Sony Music, L’Oréal, Miu Miu, SCOTT Sports and Tiffany & Co. Our typewriters have also found their way into the hands of Wes Anderson, Lady Gaga, Eddie Vedder and Simon Vargas!

But what makes us happiest? A photograph of a teenage girl who chose our typewriter over a new smartphone. A street poet writing for strangers. Someone discovering the magic of putting words onto paper.

Every machine we restore might inspire another poem, a love letter or a story.

That's what really matters to us.

Our Story

 ARE YOU READY TO WRITE?

A good starting point always exists. Sit down (or lie on the floor) at your typewriter with a blank page and pick one small thing, a memory, a word, or a question. Then begin writing; don't stop, don't edit, and don't attempt to make it perfect. Just let the words flow for five minutes. Stories seldom start off with perfection; instead, they start with the courage to begin. Write first and edit later. Allow your story to develop naturally.

Write first. Edit later.

Let your story unfold. Life, like a typewriter, has no delete key.

Make every word count. Make every moment matter.

Our Client's Choice

#1  Olivetti Lettera 32

The Olivetti Lettera 32 is a piece of history. Released in 1963 and masterfully designed by Italian architect and designer Marcello Nizzoli. This exceptional portable mechanical typewriter embodies the robustness and professionalism of an era when precision and craftsmanship were paramount.

How We Restore Typewriters

We start with a full inspection, inside and out. Each machine is carefully cleaned to remove years of dust, old grease, rust and debris.

Worn or damaged parts are repaired or replaced using original parts whenever possible, or high-quality modern equivalents when needed.

Once the mechanics are working properly, we turn to the exterior. Some machines only need careful cleaning and polishing, while others require repainting or decal restoration.

Finally, we test the keyboard, ribbon advance, carriage, spacing and alignment to make sure everything works as it should.

The result is a typewriter that is beautiful, reliable and ready to be used again.

The result is not simply a typewriter that looks good, but one that has been properly restored, tested and prepared for regular use

Quick Care Guide - Everything Your Typewriter Needs

Keep it Covered

Store your typewriter in its case or under a dust cover when not in use. Avoid damp and sunny areas. Store your machine in a dry, environment with stable temperature and humidity.

Clean Regularly

Use a soft brush or compressed air to eliminate dust between keys and inside mechanisms. Having cats or dogs? Cover it at all times to prevent extra cleaning ;)

Wipe the Exterior

Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove smudges and fingerprints; avoid harsh cleaners. Avoid aggressive liquids as they can harm varnish, paint, or plastic elements.

Lubricate Sparingly

Apply a drop of lightweight oil (like Liquid Bearings) only to pivot points and never over-oil.

Replace Ribbon

Change ribbons every few months or when prints start to fade. If letters start to fade quicker, just check the spool's movement to see if everything works fine. Maybe it is the direction lever or something that is stuck.

Handle Carriage Gently

Return the carriage smoothly; avoid slamming to prevent damage. Handle the carriage with care during the return process to maintain its functionality and appearance. Be gentle, it is your best writing companion.

Release Roller Tension

Never leave paper clamped in the platen for long periods; release the rollers' tension before storage. Proper care for your platen includes releasing the rollers' tension before storing your typewriter.

Use It Regularly

Write a lot! At least create small notes, one or two poems to fill an A4 page each month to power the machine; typewriters run smoothly without lubrication. Consistent writing ensures elite performance and enduring strength.

Olivetti Studio 46 · The Stendhal Edition

The Hispano Olivetti Studio 46 was built in Barcelona, at a time when Spain was only just relearning how to make beautiful things. We named her Stendhal because red and black, "Le Rouge et le Noir," are the colours of his most famous novel, and this machine has as much ambition as its hero. The deep burgundy cover sweeps around in an arc like the fender of a 1940s Italian coupé, while the glossy black body keeps everything in check. The Spanish keyboard, with its Ñ and chrome-ringed keys, remembers every letter ever written on it and is ready for the next one. This is a typewriter for someone who wants to write slowly, clearly, and with a touch of literary excess.
